Social media is stuffed to the gunnels with offers of the perfect way to find a better work-life balance. Sales funnels, coaching diplomas, passive income, selling online, slow cookers, mindfulness app, tick lists, techniques. Nothing wrong with any of them. Except they can never deliver. Why not? Because a better work-life balance doesn’t exist. Whatever you have this very moment is as perfect as it gets. Whether that is midnight housework, nights spent comforting a sick child while sending emails, waking at 3am buzzing with thought, travelling the world but only seeing airports and conference halls, sitting in an office all day, or lying on a beach watching the waves.
No one can sell you a better life. For one fundamental reason – it’s not made by gadgets, techniques or courses. More, it’s not made by a telephone number income, a loving family, or even good health. It’s not made by learning to live within your means, accepting what you have, joining a commune, getting a promotion, or starting a new business. It’s not even found in a big white wedding, the holiday of a lifetime, bungee jumping, a walk in the woods, or a swim in the ocean.
By now, you might be starting to wonder what’s left?
What’s left is what is.
In what is, you find the one true self. The self that is not moved or changed by money, activity or family. The self that knows all experience, intimately, as itself. Known for what they are, money, activity and family dissolve back into that same true self – their essential source.
The true self is abundance, peace and love. That lacks nothing, is agitated by nothing, needs nothing.
In other words, perfect balance.
